The way to slow down reckless drivers

On Thursday morning, a 14 year old girl was hit by a car in Waelhemstraat, the street where mortierbrigade advertising agency is located. It was a hit-and-run case. The advertising agency has decided to respond to this incident by installing a display along Waelhemstraat. Prostitutes are pictured in this display, something that does slow down reckless drivers. It’s a powerful image, backed up by the words “The way to slow down reckless drivers. Tried and tested on Aarschotstraat.”

“This incident profoundly moved us as occupants of Waelhemstraat, because every day we’re forced to cope with reckless driving at the junction of our street with Helmetsesteenweg. We wanted to do something to help as a way of supporting the girl and her family. So we went in search of a solution for slowing down reckless drivers. Fortunately, we didn’t have to look far. We’d previously noticed that, for obvious reasons, cars drove remarkably slowly along Aarschotstraat. To us, responding in our own unique way was the logical choice,” explains Joost Berends, creative director of the agency.

The display was installed on Friday evening and will hopefully slow down reckless drivers.
